Haleakala Sunrise

Ever since I served on the U.S.S. Haleakala (AE-25), I wanted to someday visit the mountain for which it was named. The Silversword cactus was part of our ship's seal, and I wanted to see one of those plants in person. During a winter visit to Maui, Michelle agreed to get up with me at 3:00 a.m. to make the drive to the summit parking lot so we could be there for sunrise. It was chilly, but beautiful. As much as I would love to go there again, it is one of those places that gets a lot of visitation pressure, and I am not sure I will contribute to that problem again. Artist Print

Haleakala Sunrise print

Carl uses thick, high quality fine art paper for all of his Artist Prints. These prints are made personally by the artist up to the 16x24 size, then by a professional lab for larger sizes. Printed on sheet paper, or roll paper for panoramic prints, these prints are printed to full size with the excess paper trimmed down to a small border around the image. This provides for a sufficient edge for your framing shop when it comes time to frame your print. Larger prints are shipped rolled to minimize damage and reduce shipping costs.

Metal Print

Haleakala Sunrise print

Metal prints represent a new art medium for preserving photos by infusing dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets. Because the image is infused into the surface and not on it, your images will take on an almost magical luminescence. The ultra-hard scratch-resistant surface is waterproof/weatherproof and can be cleaned easily – just avoid direct sunlight. The prints are mounted on a floating mount for ease of hanging. These prints are shipped directly from a professional lab for lower shipping costs.

Lumachrome Museum Plus

Haleakala Sunrise print

The Lumachrome print is a three-part process, with a color transfer applied to a paper material, then covered with a 1/8-inch thick acrylic face. The acrylic is coated with a P99 Non-Glare UFA 95% UV protection surface. It also includes a 3mm Comatex protective backing for edge protection and a 3/4 inch floating frame* for hanging. The print is archival quality with a 120-year life. Prints are shipped directly from the lab for lower shipping.

*Larger prints are backed with a Heavy Duty Roma rear frame.
