I was out photographing at a favorite location along the Turnagain Arm. As the sun was setting, I paused and looked to my left. There, I saw frozen in the mud the carcass of a spawned-out salmon. My best guess is it washed down from the Twenty Mile River, which was the nearest salmon-bearing river to this location. Something about its positioning and its expression exploded my creative head, so to speak. I worked several angles with different lenses on my Nikon D850. It was an exciting discovery that really got my creative juices flowing. I can’t say enough how much this oddly macabre subject really added some creative delight to the end of my day.

Artist Print

Cycles print

Carl uses thick, high quality fine art paper for all of his Artist Prints. These prints are made personally by the artist up to the 16x24 size, then by a professional lab for larger sizes. Printed on sheet paper, or roll paper for panoramic prints, these prints are printed to full size with the excess paper trimmed down to a small border around the image. This provides for a sufficient edge for your framing shop when it comes time to frame your print. Larger prints are shipped rolled to minimize damage and reduce shipping costs.

Metal Print

Cycles print

Metal prints represent a new art medium for preserving photos by infusing dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets. Because the image is infused into the surface and not on it, your images will take on an almost magical luminescence. The ultra-hard scratch-resistant surface is waterproof/weatherproof and can be cleaned easily – just avoid direct sunlight. The prints are mounted on a floating mount for ease of hanging. These prints are shipped directly from a professional lab for lower shipping costs.

Lumachrome Museum Plus

Cycles print

The Lumachrome print is a three-part process, with a color transfer applied to a paper material, then covered with a 1/8-inch thick acrylic face. The acrylic is coated with a P99 Non-Glare UFA 95% UV protection surface. It also includes a 3mm Comatex protective backing for edge protection and a 3/4 inch floating frame* for hanging. The print is archival quality with a 120-year life. Prints are shipped directly from the lab for lower shipping.

*Larger prints are backed with a Heavy Duty Roma rear frame.
