In the movie "Dead Poet's Society," Robin Williams' character implores his students to "look at things in a different way" as he climbs upon his desk. "Just when you think you know something, you have to look at it in another way," he explains as he encourages them to break classroom decorum and climb upon his desk for a look. For the landscape photographer, aerial photography allows us to do this quite literally. But, it also allows us to examine the landscape in a very different way, to explore new bounds of composition. All sense of scale, size, proportion and bearing go out the window. New ideas, new visions are without limit. Over the years, I have had the pleasure to look at Alaska "in a different way" from a variety of small fixed-wing aircraft to helicopters. I hope you enjoy the journey.
