“Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out going to the mountains is going home; that wilderness is a necessity…” (John Muir)
Throughout human history, mountains have inspired grand journeys, deep connections with wilderness, and artistic creations of all types. Most of my life, I have lived around mountains. Within sight of Anchorage, we can see five distinct mountain ranges. Perhaps my favorite mountain range in Alaska is the Brooks Range, which lies entirely above the Arctic Circle. Whether from the air or the ground, they constantly inspire me like they have many before me.
