Alaska Life

I recently participated in a nighttime dog mushing tour to explore adding options to my photography workshops. Before the tour, my wife and I were with other guests (real visitors to Alaska), and we were chatting with one of the mushers. A couple of times, I mentioned the term "Alaska lifestyle." One of the visitors asked me what that was. My response related something about living off the land and having a connection to the land, of being outdoors-minded and adventurous, of having a free spirit, of taking the best of long-held traditions while forging your own path. After over twenty years of living in Alaska, it has been essential for me to explore the Alaska lifestyle through my photography in many ways. Nature photography cannot and should not be of the landscape in isolation, but with us humans as joint participants. This gallery reflects what I have found to be the essential elements of Alaska Life.
